What a pretty girl you have there.

Yesterday morning Brian got Emma ready while I took a shower. When we got to the store I realized that under her designer jacket, Brian had left her in her PJ's, and he hadn't wiped her down. Her hands were slimy and she had a milk face and nose filled with baby buggers. I was appalled. My poor dirty baby. . . . . those of you who know me will appreciate my horror.

So today, I decided to help her rebuild her self esteem by a deep cleansing bath and dressing her up. She actually looks like a girl. . . complete with cute flowered dress, pink pants, and little pink and green shoes. I wonder if I should start a tradition. . . making Friday "Dress like a girl day!"

Nah, but today she sure does look cute!

I hope my customers don't pass out when they see my little one all fancied up.

Baby Abs

I need a new baby-containing contraption for the store. Emma has decided that the bouncy seat is now an AbMaster. Check out her form!

First you start with your feet dangling off the edge.
Just like this.
Then you pull your feet up and get in the plank position.
Notice the straight legs.
Form is everything, ladies!
Next, transition into a scissor.
Hold it!
Hold it!
and then all the way up!

If you get tired, just rest your feet on the counter!
If you want this baby body, you'll need to do at least 10 reps a day!

Happy Gotcha Day Truman!

5 years ago today, Brian and I rented a Pontiac Aztec and drove to Canada to pick up Truman, our naughty greyhound! In the five years he's been with us, he's definitely kept us on our toes. . .. he's gotten food off the top of the refrigerator on several occasions, opened and raided cabinets, degutted and destroyed and unlimited number of toys (and my ragedy andy doll), and weaseled his way into our hearts. That boy's got personality, and a lot of it! He's mischevious but he's also the sweetest, most loving, cuddle bug of a dog! I wouldn't trade him for the world!

The big 9-0 . .. .days that is!

Today Emma is 90 days old. . . .she's a 3 month mamma!

She celebrated this big birthday by sleeping through the night! I can't believe it. She also decided that today would be the day she'd start working on flipping over. She was laying in bed between Brian and I and she flipped about 3/4 of the way over from back to front. I was absolutely dumbfounded. I guess we're at that "she can't be left alone" stage. Either that or I'll need to get velcro straps and velcro her down. . .but I don't think Brian would go for that!

Breaking out or Break Dancing?

Emma really HATES being strapped into her bouncy chair. She will fuss and act all pitiful until I remove the seatbelt. Once I remove it, she pushes the seat with her feet and slides herself down the chair until her feet hang off the end. At first I thought she was trying to break out, but today I realized, she's sliding herself far enough down the seat to get more bounce when she kicks. I've been trying to get it on tape, but she usually stops when I pull out the camera. Today she cooperated with the help of me covering the blinking light on my camera. Apparently the blinking light is mesmorizing!

So is she breaking out or break dancing? Only Emma will really know for sure!

I showed him!

Hey guys, Emma here.
Let me tell you what happened to me today. You'll never believe it.
Iwas hanging out in my bouncy seat. . . . .
just like always . . . .
waiting for the next customer to come in . . ..
ready to hear once again how adorable I am.

When all of a sudden I was I was attacked.

Attacked I tell you!
This purple and blue Dragon named Sprinkles decended on me before I had a chance to turn away.
Yes, you read it correctly, Sprinkles.
What kind of Dragon has that kind of name?
I knew I could take this pansy Sprinkles.
Bring it on Buddy!

I first showed him my deadly weapon. The Gene Simmons tongue.

Sprinkles you should run and hide. My tongue is lethal!

Then I took a second to pose for my audience before I gave old Sprinkles the what for!
(see aren't I cute?)

I gummed his ear.
Take that!

Then he went for my eye!
Can you believe it? What a low blow!

Using all my might, I went for his nose.

Chomp Chomp Chomp!

That's all it took.
Sprinkles started begging for mercy.
So I let him go and gave him a hug.

All good battles must end in a hug, right?

That's one happy baby!

All day I hear, "That's one happy baby!" She loves sitting in her bouncy seat at the store, smiling at everyone that comes in. Everyone except the UPS man. For some reason, she refuses to give him the smile that he desperately tries to get everytime he comes in the store. She's super easy going when she's at home or at the store but super cranky when she is anywhere else.

Sunday, we went to brunch with friends and she was a little fuss-bucket. Granted, it was her nap time and she ended up missing the festivities by crashing out on Brick and Fi's ottoman. Last night she decided that dinner at Kim in James' house wasn't on her agenda and proceeded to let everyone know. Again, it was her nap time and she finally quit fighting it and fell asleep.
Hmmm. . . .now that I think about it. . . . maybe its not her after all! Maybe I should stop planning things during her nap time. Ha!

Emma this morning getting ready to go to the Dr.

Serious baby.

Tastes like chicken

My child has turned into a drooling, bubble blowing, licking machine. If she's not licking my shoulder, she's licking the couch, or licking her blankets, or sucking on her hands, or blowing big old spit bubbles. Lovely!

Since she's got a pretty good grasp I decided to put a rattle in her hand to see what she'd do. She instantly brought it to her mouth coated it with a good amount of Emma slobber. When she finished with the rattle, I put her giraffe in her hand. Apparently giraffe tastes much better than rattle and she thoroughly soaked Mr. Giraffe's head.

Emma says,

"This is my tongue. I use it to taste things!"

"Mmmm, rattle tastes good!"

"Do you think Mr. Giraffe will mind if I lick his head?"

"Giraffe, the other white meat"

Here's the slobber monkey in action!

Upgraded

Emma has officially upgraded from her Barco-lounger aka bouncy seat, to her Bumbo. Today she sat on the counter and helped me make dinner. She's reliably holding her head up and seemed to like the upgrade.

Here she is fantasizing about taking the car and talking on her cell phone.

Here's one tired baby with crazy hair.
